Recipe to Make your Own Sun Screen

Protecting your self from the sun is very important, especially now that our planet is getting polluted more and more. Making your own sun screen can have a lot of advantages, especially if you don’t trust chemical products. It is also easy on the pocket.

Below is a list of some natural products you can use to make your own sun screen along with a proper recipe!

Natural Sun Screens

The following ingredients naturally have varying SPF in them and can therefore be used to protect your self from the sun.

  • Almond Oil – SPF 5
  • Shea Butter – SPF 4-6
  • Carrot Seed Oil – SPF 35-40
  • Coconut Oil – SPF 4-6
  • Zinc Oxide – SPF 2-20 (It actually depends on the quantity of Zinc Oxide that you use)
  • Raspberry Seed Oil – SPF 25-50

You can just mix your coconut oil with raspberry seed oil and carrot seed oil or maybe zinc oxide to use as a sun screen for use under normal circumstances and if the sun isn’t too hot in your area.

Recipe to Make your Own!

Mix half a cup of almond oil or olive oil with 1/4 cup of coconut oil and 1/4 cup beeswax. Add to it 1 teaspoon of raspberry seed oil and 1 teaspoon of carrot seed oil and 2 tablespoons shea butter. If you like fragrance, you can add a couple of drops of an essential oil of your choice too. Put the mixture in a mason jar.

Take a medium saucepan and fill it halfway with water and place this over the heat. Loosely place the lid on your mason jar and place it in the pan of water. Slowly, you will see the ingredients in the jar starting to melt. Stir occasionally and when all the ingredients have melted, add in 2 tablespoons of zinc oxide. Stir it in the mix and pour it into a jar or bottle that you will use. Keep stirring a few times until cool to make sure the zinc oxide. Store this at room temperature.
