Going to the parlours is fun, and easy but it is also expensive and not everyone can afford it. Especially when it comes to dying hair, parlours are super expensive. They charge exorbitant amounts and if you pick the wrong place, they can damage your hair for good too. It is possible to dye your hair at home, by yourself. It may seem tedious and frightening but, it is totally doable! Which is why we decided to teach you how to dye your hair, yourself, at home.
How to Dye Your Hair Completely
To get the exact results you want, pore over the “before” shades on the box labels when shopping—and make sure your starter color is a match.
1: Make sure you haven’t washed your hair in two days before you dye them. This way, your scalp’s natural oils act as a barrier and protect it from irritation etc. Especially if you have super sensitive skin. You will have to be extra careful about ammonia.
2: Always do a strand test first. What this means is that you apply the colour on a small section of hair and work out the time. You can’t always rely on the box so you have to see yourself. Especially if you have fine hair, they need very little time so be on the look out.
3: Read, reread, and follow the box instructions to a T. (Exception: Don’t apply color from roots to ends in one go; see 4.)
4: To get even colour every time while dyeing your entire head, this is what you do: Apply the dye half of an inch away from your scalp and then move towards the ends. Then when you are halfway through with the time, go back to your roots. Basically the heat from the head makes your colour develop faster at the roots compared to the rest of the head. Also, make sure you are using a professional colour brush.
